This post is written in collaboration with Matt’s Flights.
When it comes to travelling, the biggest thing that eats your budget is airline tickets. Finding cheap airline tickets requires a lot of time and patience, something I don’t have in my hectic schedule.
So when Matt reached out to me to try Matt’s Flights, I jumped at the chance to get emails on cheap deals sent to my inbox. I love nothing more than finding flights that are hundreds of dollars cheaper than what I’d normally pay. Having spent a year travelling on a tight budget, I know the huge amount of time and energy that goes into finding cheap airline tickets. Now that I am back in Toronto, I don’t have the time to hunt for these deals. Knowing that Matt is sending discounted deals to my email was appealing to me.

About Matt’s Flights
Matt’s Flights was created in 2017 for those who want to get automatically notified of cheap travel deals. Matt and his team spend their days looking for these international and domestic deals. These deals arrive directly to your inbox based on the location that you chose when you first signed up for the service. Note that Matt’s Flights currently serve Americans and Canadians.
The email notifications have been great, and they’ve exposed me to destinations that I would not even think of visiting. But sometimes the price looks so good that I started to consider that destination.
To take advantage of the pricing, you usually have to book within a week for travel that is up to three months from the date of the email. While the timing is a bit of a constraint, there’s still enough time for you to plan your vacation to make that trip a possibility, especially if you need to book time off from work. Yet, I’d recommend booking as soon as possible because the prices could rise quickly once other passengers start booking the same deal. Many of the prices are non-stop round-trip flights as well.
Is Matt’s Flights legit?
Yep, very much so! Airlines often make mistakes on pricing their flights, but the error is usually rectified soon after the price is publicly listed. So, unless you are monitoring these flights, it will be hard to buy these prices at a discount. The second reason why flights are so cheap is that there are rare seat discounts that happen from time to time.
Note that you have to book the flights yourself and Matt does not get any compensation from the companies you use to book your flight. Usually, the deals come from Google Flights, and you will see a search screenshot as well as a link to one of the searches from one of the departing airports.
Matt’s Flights subscription pricing – Free and premium subscription
Matt’s Flights has pricing for two types of customers: free members and premium members.
Matt’s Flights – Free subscription
If you’re not sure about signing up for the premium subscription, you can start with the free subscription. All you need to do is enter your email address and you’ll start receiving deals within the week. You get one deal per week under the free version and you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. The one thing I don’t like about the free version is that it includes departing airports from the US as well. For example, I’ll get an email for non-stop flights to Paris for $284, only to realize that I can only get that price if I leave from New York.
Still, not bad if I plan a trip to New York from Toronto before heading to Paris. There are Canadian cities listed at the bottom of the email but as you can see, there are a lot of departing cities from the US.
Matt’s Flights – premium services
If you want to receive more deals, then the Premium Service is something to consider. The service price is $59.99 per year, or $4.99 a month.
24/7 unlimited email access to Matt and his team
Another great feature of the premium service is that you can email Matt and his team to run custom searches for your travel plans. Just tell them the destination and they will send you the best deals. What’s great is that you can email him any questions about any dates of travel and he will respond to your choices and options.
Matt’s Flights Premium Service – Worth it for Canadians?
As Canadians, we’ve been conditioned to see ridiculously good deals only for American airports. Yet, with Matt’s Flights, their Canada Premium offers some great deals for us Canadians. While the flights aren’t dirt cheap like the ones you see for US airports, you’re still saving a good amount of money on flights.
Here are a few examples of some great deals:
Here are some other great deals I saw for non-stop round trip flights leaving from Toronto:
• Toronto to Halifax: $348 (normally $700 CAD)
• Flight from Toronto to Vancouver: $338 (normally $700 CAD. Yes, living in Canada can be ridiculously expensive)
• Toronto to Honolulu: $584 (normally $900 CAD)
What’s also great is that Matt actually sends emails to us Canadians with prices listed in Canadian dollars! If you are a Canadian, I’m sure you can relate to how annoying it is to something that is seemingly affordable, only to realize the price is listed in USD. That’s always a pain because the price would be 30% higher for us.
